Winter shore based recreational fishing in Vleesbaai
Forty eight surveys were conducted which entailed 152 angler groups being interviewed and 68 fish being recorded. The most caught fish was Belman Umbrina canariensis with 18 fish landed making up 26.5% of the catch and a total CPUE over the six months of 0.52 fish per hour. This made up the majority of the catch, and is therefore the most valuable species to the winter shore-based recreational linefishery in terms of quantity. The month with the highest total CPUE for total was May with 0.46 fish per hour. July is the month where weekend and public holiday anglers are most frequent. Nine Dusky Kob A. japonicas were kept, of which 80% of the catch was made up of fish of illegal keeping size.
